MATERIALS OF CONSTRUCTION
- The standard material of
construction for liquid contact in Remspec's probes is 316 SS with seals
made of Kalrez®: or graphite filled polymer.
- For more aggressive environments we offer Hastelloy®:
C2000 which has superior properties to the commonly used C-276 alloy.
- Probe head bodies can also be fabricated in basically any machinable
material including, some polymers, titanium, nickel, and even tantalum.

INFRARED CRYSTAL MATERIALS
Remspec offers a range of crystal materials so that the best option can be selected:
- Cleartran. Military grade ZnS It has excellent resistance to bases and acids
- ZnSe has a wider optical window than ZnS but is not as resistant to bases and strong acids
- AMTIR Withstands fuming sulphuric without any problems but is attacked in strong base
- Si or Ge Both have lowered sensitivity due to their high refractive indicies. Ge absorbs light at elevated temperatures and Si has a limited spectral range
- ZrO2 is highly chemically resistant but has a limited spectral range
- Diamond. Diamond is brittle, very expensive and has a large low signal region due to a C-C fundamental vibration and hydrogen contamination. It is however resistant to most most strong oxidizers
